about me
I grew up in the Minnesota area, and went to Northland College in Ashland, WI to receive my B.S. in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Sociology. My experience at Northland grounded my connection to nature and environmental ethic. I see the world as the systems we live in and the relationships we cultivate as a direct reflection of our mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual health and wellbeing.
I always knew I wanted to live in Portland, OR. After I graduated college, I moved out and received my MSW in clinical social work at Portland State University (PSU). Out of graduate school, I went into the school system and worked k-12 supporting students and teachers as a school social worker. I now find my experience working in schools as invaluable when working direct service with adults. It gives a clear vision as to the inner workings of human development and experiences shaped by the environment and systems we live in. I’m now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in the states of Oregon and Washington. This is important to note for therapy clients. I can see coaching and consulting clients from any state.
Outside of sessions, I love to hike and get outdoors with my dog Bechley - a golden lab. I have been a student of meditation and yoga and find so much value in cultivating a devoted practice. I consider myself a seeker of knowledge and truth. I’m fascinated with continuing my learning in ancient astrology and understanding the world through a greater context through spiritual traditions, sociology, philosophy, theology and mysticism, and psychology. I love a good book or podcast that inspires in me further research that opens new awareness. I identify with the archetype mystic, and work with the tarot/oracle, cosmos, and earth to (re)connect to something larger outside of myself. The mysteries of life can be seen as the wisdom that runs through and transcends everyday knowledge and intellectual ideas. I see this as the integration of physical to Spirit connection. These days, I’m really into working with herbs and creating in the kitchen to find really yummy recipes to make!
All this to be said, I’m so much more than just the titles that define me. This is important when considering who to work with. Therapy fit is so much more than the credentials behind the name. It is the energy in the shared space. This goes both ways, and therapeutic alignment is so important in order for this work to be effective. Remember, your story is a privilege to sit with and hear. Reach out for low risk free 15-minute consultation to see if it’s a good fit. I look forward to meeting you!
